Kate’s interiors evoke the relaxed and comforting atmosphere of contemporary living – and aptly, now, deeply embedded in cultural visions of human happiness. Large windows have been thrown open to reveal gum trees, fruit trees and gardens of the sunny backyard. Within the interior, Kate explores a range of rich colours and decorative patterns around everyday objects, souvenirs from travels, gifts from family and friends, and other domestic delights. As a master of intense decoration and expressive use of colour, Kate’s work has gravitated to the beautiful and often floral – a celebration of bright and appealing colours and placement.

Being in the landscape is like being in love. I am drawn to its power, glory and terror, in the hope that I can hold it forever, but it won’t be captured. It’s a wild thing. This is what I try to relive in my paintings; the exhilaration of uncertainty and surprise, the freedom of the unknown”. Rachel paints the vastness and intimacy of her beloved Blue Mountains; dramatic cliffs and simplistic plains – wherever there exists an energy, some rhythm, a breeze, a storm, some inviting movement. The interplay of active skies and static forms, and the surfaces that dance in between create a tension that Rachel likes to play with.

Julianne Ross Allcorn is an artist who draws inspiration from nature. Her series of nature drawings/paintings are a beautiful showcase of Australian wildlife, botanicals, light and shadow, and all the tiny creatures that inhabit our Australian bush. Her artworks perfectly illustrate what an immense Influence the natural beauty around us can have on the imagination of an artist.

This exhibition evolved from Kate Nielsen’s recent highly successful show at Purple Noon Gallery, and where so many of you expressed regret at missing out on one of these delightful gems. So here we go again.

We are very excited to be presenting a dual exhibition of artwork by Ray Monde alongside Sydney artist Matthew Fennelly. Both artists are passionate and sophisticated in their approach to their themes and art making practices, and this show will be an excellent introduction to their work.

An extraordinarily beautiful exhibition of Aboriginal landscapes by artists from 3 remote desert art centres: Papulankutja Artists, Warlukurlangu Artists from Yuendumu and Warlayirti Artists from Balgo. This artwork presents the viewer with a wonderful display of forms rippling and swirling across the canvas in a myriad of tiny strokes and dots of paint.

Across the Table celebrates the beauty of spring, the collaborative and comforting nature of getting together, and the importance of forming new friendships in a creative environment, albeit also reflecting the recent hardships of a disorderly pandemic.

Ana draws on her film and theatrical background of making props and costumes to add another dimension to her love of the Australian bush and countryside. She is interested in blurring the relationships currently existing between imagination and reality. Ana’s mindset takes her to pathways unseen by others. There are no boundaries.

Kate’s work is filled with visual references from her home life and family; and from the natural environment where a sense of place encapsulates a unique approach to processing what she sees. Her landscape paintings portray nostalgic Australian vistas, and Kate’s interiors evoke universal familiar surroundings that elicit memories of small yet important moments in hers and our lives.
