Wreaths are not just for Christmas

Historically, fashioning plant materials in to a circle traditionally symbolizes “the strength of life.”
In the autumn, as the growing cycle ends, harvest wreaths celebrate the bounty of the season.
The early Romans wished each other “good health” by exchanging branches of evergreens. The boughs were curved into a circle, and hung.
Inspired by this age old motif we will turn away from its traditional use in our contemporary society as a Christmas decoration and give it a twist that can be displayed all year round.
We will use a combination of stitching techniques and combine them with reclaimed textiles and trims to create individualized artworks that can then be framed, incorporated into a panel on a bag, or perhaps made into a cushion.
Come along and enjoy the creative freedom that comes with Slow Stitching. Little or no  previous experience is necessary, all welcome!
Japanese Floral Motifs

For her “Japanese Floral Motifs” workshop Lisa has combined her floristry background, and her appreciation of flowers, with her lifelong love of Japanese design elements and textiles.

The simplicity of the floral motifs and their meanings when used alone, or combined, are the source of inspiration for this Slow Stitch workshop.

Your goody bag, which is included in your class fee, will have a selection of reclaimed Japanese textiles for you to create with.
